Privacy Policy | Stillday

1. Scope

This policy covers the Stillday app and the services offered on this website, and explains how we handle personal information. Except in the cases this policy explicitly sets out, Stillday does not upload, sync or share data in any form.

Please read this policy in full before you start using Stillday. If you do not agree with it, please stop using the app.

2. What we do not collect

Stillday has no account system, and every core feature works without a network connection. We do not collect or transmit any of the following:

anything you write, or its time, place, mood and photos;
your phone number, email address, name or nickname, or the contacts on your device;
location, microphone recordings, or clipboard contents;
behavioural tracking used to build a profile of you. The app contains no advertising SDK and no third-party analytics SDK.

3. Where your entries live

Every entry is written into an encrypted database inside the app sandbox on your device, with the key held by the device's secure module. Everything you see in On This Day and Memory Walk comes from the history on that device. None of it passes through a server.

Photos are kept in the app's private directory. They are not written to your system photo library, and they are not uploaded.

Uninstalling Stillday deletes every entry along with it. That is the other side of "your data stays with you": we cannot recover it for you, so please keep your own backups.

4. Features you start yourself

Each of the following is started by you, and where the data goes is entirely your choice:

Export backup: creates an encrypted backup file in a location you choose. The file is password-protected and travels with you; we never come into contact with it.
Import backup: reads only from a file on your device. No network connection is used.
Share as image: renders an entry as an image and hands it to the app you pick. Stillday itself keeps no record of the share.
Feedback: when you write to hello#xingzhiapp.com (replace # with @), your email address and whatever you choose to attach are handled by the email service. Please don't attach screenshots you wouldn't want to be seen.

5. System permissions

Photos / Camera: requested only when you attach a photo to an entry, to read or capture the image you selected.
Notifications: used only to deliver the morning On This Day. You can turn it off in system settings or inside the app, and nothing else is affected.
Stillday does not request location, contacts, microphone, calendar or health permissions.

6. App stores and installation

When you download Stillday through the App Store or an Android app store, that store collects download counts, device models and crash reports under its own privacy policy, and it may show them to you. In that case the store is the data controller, not Stillday, so please read its privacy notice as well.

7. Minors

Stillday is designed for adults. If you are under 14, please use it under the guidance of a guardian, who may also ask us to stop providing the service. And because we collect no personal information, we equally cannot recover or verify a child's entries for you.

8. Data security

The technical measures we take include encrypted local database storage, password-protected backup files, and never logging the content of an entry. Since no upload channel exists, there is no way for a server-side leak to happen.

Keep your device passcode safe and export a backup regularly — those two habits are the main line of defence for your privacy on this device.

9. Changes to this policy

If the way Stillday handles data ever changes — for example, if a new feature touches your data — we will update this page and tell you with a one-off dialog when the app starts. Until then, this page stays as it is.
